On 24 October 2024, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) delivered an important judgment in the Vitra/Kwantum case (C-227/23): EU Member States cannot use reciprocity provisions to deny copyright protection to original works of applied art, even if these works originate from non-EU Member States that do not offer copyright protection.

On 30 October 2024, the Intellectual Property High Court (IP High Court) overturned the Japan Patent Office (JPO) trial board’s decision, which had rejected the registrability of the Shin Godzilla (Godzilla Resurgence) figure as a three-dimensional trademark.

Logo as a work of art: Perspectives from judicial practice in Kosovo

A logo may include visual elements combining text with figurative components or consist solely of figurative elements, designed to represent a specific entity or project. Under Article 5 of Kosovo's Law on Copyright and Related Rights, logos qualify for protection as works of art.

Belgian Activities at the 2024 AIPPI World Congress

The 2024 AIPPI China Copyright Forum: Hot Issues in China Copyright Law

The 2024 AIPPI China Copyright Forum was successfully held in Beijing on 7 December 2024.

The Forum attracted nearly 200 participants, including renowned members of the academia, judiciary, and the legal profession, as well as practitioners from the film and television industry, the mini-series industry, the music industry, the artificial intelligence industry and other fields.
